History
There are Iberian remains, a tower, and Muslim ones, an Arab shield. In 1363 Juan Alonso de Jérica, lord of Jérica, founded the village. In 1431 John of Navarre sold Pina, together with Jérica and Barracas, to Francesc Zarzuela. In the 18th century it belonged to the Duke of Berwick. At the end of that century Cavanilles describes it with 60 households and 270 souls. On 2 July 1916 the name changed from «Pina» to «Pina de Montalgrao». In 1936 the image of the Virgen de Vallada, in wood and dated 1350, was destroyed.
