Cinctorres, in Els Ports, was one of the eight hamlets of Morella. It has numerous hermitages, an 18th-century church of San Pedro and a Moors' tower.
From hamlet to town
In 1232 Blasco de Alagón conquered it. In 1358 it was fortified because of the war with Castile and in 1369 John I granted a margin of autonomy. On 20 October 1562 the Justice met under a shed on the site of today's town hall. On 9 February 1691 Charles II signed the privilege that granted town status to the eight hamlets.

The church of San Pedro Apóstol was begun on 1 August 1763 and opened on 28 September 1782. Among the hermitages are San Marcos (16th century), San Luis Beltrán (1674), El Pilar (1763) and the Virgen de Gracia (1875).
Population
In 1511 it had about 400 inhabitants, in 1900 it reached 1,537 and in 1994 it had 598.
