History of Alcudia de Veo

Alcudia de Veo is a village in the Espadán mountains, in the Veo valley. It grew until in 1900 it recovered the population it had before the expulsion of the Moriscos.

Reconquest and Moriscos

James I reconquered it around 1238. In 1609 the expulsion of the Moriscos was decreed, when the place had about 600 inhabitants, and it did not regain that population until 1900. In 1897 the municipality grew by absorbing Veo.

20th century

Between 1900 and 1965 the population fell by 47%. The parish church of San Miguel Arcángel dates from the 18th century.
